Formed in 1992 by longtime friends Thorsten Benning (drums), Robin Rodenberg (bass), Reiner Henseleit (guitar), and Morten Gass (guitar/piano), self-described German all-instrumental 'doom ridden jazz music' quartet Bohren & der Club of Gore was forged from a shared love of grindcore, hardcore, death, and doom metal. With their third album, 2000’s Sunset Mission, Bohren move toward perfecting their noir jazz soundscapes, replacing the guitar of the first two albums with a tenor saxophone. This fusion of jazz and ambient played at a snail-pace works incredibly well, perfectly. Bohren & der Club of Gore started out as a Heavy Metal/Hardcore band, but then completely changed their style to something which is often referred to as Doom Jazz. People often mention Lynch, but really meaning some of the work composed by Angelo Badalamenti for Lynch works such as Twin Peaks, but also to some extent Lost Highway.

Bohren & der Club of Gore is a German ambient/jazz band from Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

History[edit]

The band was founded in 1992 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany by Thorsten Benning, Morten Gass, Robin Rodenberg and Reiner Henseleit. Originally, group members started out playing in various hardcore bands such as 7 Inch Boots and Chronical Diarrhoea.^[1] In 1992 they produced a crossover of jazz and ambient, which they self-described as an 'unholy ambient mixture of slow jazz ballads, Black Sabbath doom and down-tuned Autopsy sounds'. Henseleit left the band in 1996 and was replaced by Christoph Clöser in 1997, replacing the guitar with a saxophone at the same time.^[2]

Great Album !

Throughout season four, Bates Motel has seemed to be barreling toward the moment when Norma goes from a living, vital presence to the mummified corpse in the cellar we see in Psycho. Bates Motel has finished now and it's all a bit mad in the head but a great series to watch with your mid-teen children. Just enough scares and blood with Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore playing for the laughs, scares and tongue in cheek. Work your way through he entire series - it won't be wasted time. Norma and Norman each suspect the other of a terrible deed; Dylan contemplates his future with Emma; Romero makes a choice that dramatically impacts the Bates family.
